The “Avengers” star first sparked pregnancy rumors in June after skipping out on several “Black Widow” events.
“She hasn’t been doing many interviews or events to promote ‘Black Widow,’ which is surprising since it is a huge Marvel/Disney release and she is both the star and an executive producer,” our source explained at the time.
Instead, the Oscar-nominated actress carried out promotional appearances via Zoom, appearing virtually on “The Tonight Show” to chat with Jimmy Fallon on June 21 — conspicuously only shot from the shoulders up, and later doing the same thing on Seth Meyers’ show.
Johansson is currently suing Disney, alleging that her contract was breached when “Black Widow” was released on Disney+.
But she’s already plotting her big-screen return after her baby’s arrival. The Hollywood Reporter announced this week she signed on for Wes Anderson’s latest movie, which stars Margot Robbie and Tom Hanks — as well as Anderson’s usual pals, Adrien Brody, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman and Tilda Swinton.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, and Johansson’s character details have not yet been revealed.
Johansson previously voiced the character Nutmeg in Anderson’s stop-motion animated project Isle Of Dogs, marking her first appearance in the auteur’s filmography. This will be her third film with Anderson mainstay Murray since 2003’s Lost In Translation. The two will also have voice roles in the The Jungle Book 2, which is set to arrive sometime in 2022. In 2019, she received two Oscar nominations for her roles in Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story and Taika Waititi’s Jojo Rabbit, and the actor won a Tony for her work in A View From the Bridge.
