Resul Pookutty, the Academy Award-winning sound designer, is stepping into a new role as a director in the Malayalam film industry. His directorial debut, “Otta,” is creating quite a buzz. The film is set in Kerala and Tamil Nadu and is based on S. Hariharan’s book, “Runaway Children,” inspired by Hariharan’s own life.
The movie promises an emotional rollercoaster and boasts a talented ensemble cast that includes Sathyaraj, Rohini, Sukumaran, Indrans, Adil Hussain, Divya Datta, Jaffar Idukki, Baiju Pookutty (Resul Pookutty’s brother), and Devi Nair, the daughter of actor Jalaja.
M Jayachandran is the music composer, and the lyrics are penned by Rafeeq Ahamed. “Otta” is scheduled to hit theaters on October 27.
The film’s trailer, which runs over two minutes, begins with a narrator likening children to clay, as they mold themselves into the shape of whatever falls on them.
Resul Pookutty’s venture into directing is eagerly anticipated, and “Otta” is set to be a compelling addition to Malayalam cinema.
